If you have a preference please email info@njarttx.org and let us know which workshop you would like to be in after you register. It is on a first come first serve basis, so once you are registered please email your preference to ensure your spot in that workshop.

Please see descriptions below.

Using Sand in Therapy: Theoretical Perspectives
Ruth Castellano, MA, SP, LPC

This presentation will use both theory and experiential to help clinicians learn about the different theoretical perspectives that drive the use of sand in a clinical setting. In addition to learning theoretical perspective, participants will explore the history of Jungian sandplay and be lead through an experiential that explores the impacts of symbols versus talk.

The DBT Experience:
Jane DeSouza, MPS, ATR-BC, LCAT

A DBT comprehensive approach provides the structure and art therapy provides the visualization. In this workshop barriers to recovery, stages of development, stages of change and DBT skills training modules will be explored through a side by side comparison. Art therapy tasks integrated with the DBT skills will be identified for each stage through experiential directives. Participants will experience both mindfulness and art making directives. The discussion will include ways to present progress in “outcome” based terms when describing clients’ participation in therapy both verbally and in documentation.
